Dear Friend,
"I Used To Complain About Having No Shoes, Until I Met A Man With No Feet"
Today, as I waited outside my doctor's office for the car service to pick me up and take me home after a painful failed attempt to set my foot in a hard cast. I sat looking at the pavement asking HP to share with me the silver lining that my sponsor always helped me find on days like these. Then a man in a wheel chair strolled up to me and said, "Cheer up, it could be worse... you could be dead!" As I looked up at him I saw that he had no feet and had a bottle of bourbon and a large prescription bottle of pills cradled between his knees.
Suddenly I was so overwhelmed with gratitude that I forgot my physical pain. Instead I thought back to 23 years ago when I was in a hospital bed paralyzed from the neck down after a skiing accident. Suddenly, I realized, HP had answered my prayer. Because as tough as today was, its nothing compared to where I've been, and where I come from. Today, despite my injury I live a life that's beyond my wildest dreams and a lot has to do with having phenomenal people in my life like you.
So my gratitude today is for you being in the rooms and sharing, loving and being the incredible people that you are... because when I celebrate Monday I will remind everyone that I couldn't have gotten through what I did 23 yrs ago to be here, without the support and love of the incredible people like you!
So Thank YOU for having been in and having contributed to my journey of recovery!
M/
